Happy New Year! Yes, I know it’s been slow on the blog but trust me that will be changing Very. Soon! And in the meantime it is my absolute pleasure to tour the lovely Kristina Springer, who always comes up with the best book titles ever!!!!!
A good friend comes before a boyfriend—be he real or not—every time.
Friendship can be hard sometimes, but so far in seventh grade, Tori Barnes’s BFF, Sienna Baker, is making life downright impossible. Forced into making up a boyfriend to rival Sienna’s, Tori is soon entangled in a whole mess of lies, and she knows that only the truth can fix things. With one of the most hilarious and authentic voices since Louise Rennison’s Georgia Nicolson, Kristina Springer’s new novel tackles issues near and dear to young girls: boys, popularity, and friendship.
1 How did you come up with the idea for this book?
I had my own fake boyfriend in 7th grade and I was thinking about that time and the idea for this book came to me.
2 What’s been your favorite author moment so far in your career?
Hmm, there have been a lot of great moments but my favorite still is the launch party I had for my first book, The Espressologist. We rented a coffee shop and it was so much fun.
3 It’s Oscar speech time! Who are the three people that you would most like to thank for helping you write this book?
My FSG editor, Janine O’Malley, for liking my pitch and encouraging me to write the book and of course, my 7th grade fake boyfriend and the BFF who stole him from me. :-)
4 Describe a typical writing day
In the mornings I do errands and book marketing and in the afternoons I write.
5 Tell me one strange random fact about this book.
The science teacher in the book is based off my 6th grade science teacher.
